Glide into the San Juan Islands aboard a classic 1924 sailing yacht to experience the region’s best wine and fresh local seafood. The Zodiac will carry you to local vineyards hidden throughout the islands where you can learn about the growing, aging and tasting process of local wines. Rob Newsom of Boudreaux Cellars will join the ship and guide passengers along their leisurely exploration of the San Juan Islands vineyards. Destinations include San Juan Vineyard outside of Friday Harbor, the village of Roche Harbor with an optional hike to Wescott Bay Distillery and Cidery and Lopez Island Vineyard.
In the tradition of Bacchus, the ship’s professional chef will prepare the region’s best and freshest seafood to pair with the wines. The Zodiac’s captain knows the best coves for Dungeness crabbing and there is no better way to experience their fresh rich flavor than cooking them on deck and enjoying them with a glass of white wine.
While en route to your wine laden destinations, you have the option of assisting the crew in the sailing of the vessel. Adventurous passengers can learn sailing maneuvers, basic navigation, steering and standing watch. Those passengers who want to emulate the leisurely yacht nature of the 1920s are free to lounge on deck and take in the exquisite beauty of the San Juan Islands. Each evening the ship will tuck into a secluded anchorage and a happy hour will commence on deck. Hors d’oeurvres and wine will be served and crew and passengers can mingle and compare sailing stories before savoring each seafood dinner served from the ship’s galley. |
