Sail away with us for adventure and knitting with well-known author, designer, and teacher, Mary Scott Huff and Northwest Yarns! Feel the wind in your hair as you breezily knit through this three-day, two-night sailing adventure through the San Juan Islands.
Mary Scott Huff will lead you and your fellow nautical knitters through a series of classes over the three days. Learn the history and practice of stranded colorwork in Fearless Two-Color Mittens, studying essential two-color stranded knitting techniques and the history of Norwegian Selbuvotter mittens. Then get creative in Mad Hatters, learning how to create your very own charted colorwork motifs which you will then use to design your own personalized hat. Finally, no colorwork series would be complete without learning all about steeking in Eek! Steeks!, a technique frequently used in colorwork sweaters to create cardigans. Echo Mae and Heather Seevers, the Cephalopod Sisters of Northwest Yarns, will also be sailing on this cruise to introduce you to the region’s vibrant fiber arts scene, culture, and history.
Mary Scott Huff is the author of six knitting books: The New Stranded Colorwork, Teach Yourself Visually Color Knitting, Fun and Fantastical Hats to Knit, Fun and Fantastical Slippers to Knit,The Creative Kids Photo Guide to Knitting, and The Mitten Handbook. An Information Technology refugee, Mary now leads a yarn-centered life. The many friends she’s found along the way have helped her become an internationally-recognized designer, teacher and author. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Mary shares a wee little house there with her husband, two children, some Scottish Terriers, and more yarn than is strictly necessary. You can join Mary on her adventures playing with string at www.maryscotthuff.com.
